SHILLONG, DEC 10:A private firm chowkidar K Nongsiej was shot dead by suspected Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants  in a remote village in Meghalaya’s West Khasi hills district on Wednesday, police said.
Police sources said the incident took place at Nongrathaw village under Shallang police station when a group of armed GNLA cadres attacked the place. Nongsiej was a choukidar in a private owned area.
Police also said that the helper of Nongsiej identified as H Nongrum managed to escape but sustained bullet injuries from his hand. An FIR has been filed and police are still conducting operation in the area to nab the militants.- By Our Reporter
