SHILLONG, MAR 21: At least one person was seriously injured and a house was damaged when lightning struck Umrang Nongbah village under Ri-Bhoi District.
“The injured person have been identified as Khim Phangcho (38) who was admitted at Nongpoh Civil Hospital while the house which was damaged by lightning belongs to Lawrence Ronghang, a local residents of Umrang Nongbah village” Bistokan Timung, a village leader informed..
Timung also informed that the incident occurred at around 7.15 pm on Thursday following the cyclonic storm and rain flooded the entire village unexpectedly and Phangcho the house belonging to Timung was struck by the lightning.
Even television and window panes were also damaged and broken after being struck by the lightning
The Gramsevak from Umling C&RD Block visited the damaged house and victim after he was being informed by the village head, Timng said adding that the village authority had also urged the district administration to sent immediate relief to the victim who was hurt by the lightning, he added.- By Our Reporter
