TURA, MAR 5: Two martial arts black belt from Garo hills won bronze medals in the International Taekwondo Championship 2015 held at Thimphu, Bhutan from February 28 to 2 March 2015.

The championship was held under the banner “1st Bhutan and India Taekwondo Championship 2015” and was participated by athletes from Nepal, West Bengal, Darjeeling, Assam, Kalimpong and Bodoland amongst others.

Participating in the kyorugi competition the two martial arts expert from Garo hills- Osmond T Sangma and Chandan Koch- won bronze in the middle weight and welter weight categories respectively.

Speaking to reporters Osmond T Sangma stated that Taekwondo as a mainstream sport has grown in the region. He also urged young athletes interested in the sport to come forward and participate in such events to improve both physical and mental wellbeing.- From Our Correspondent
