SHILLONG, MAR 6: Agitated over the government’s pleader use of the words “real culprit’ in the sentence “ to unearth the real culprit” in the multiple murder case, one of the deceased school teacher  David Maxeneir T Sangma’s wife has decided to file fresh petition demanding arguing that the “real culprit” has already been arrested by the police.

Prijinni Ch Marak, wife of late David Maxeneir T Sangma’s who was one among of the deceased in the recent multiple murder case that shook Garo hills recently, has decided to file a fresh petition demanding those involved should be punished as per law.

The decision to file fresh petition was taken after the family of the late teacher was dissatisfied at the petition filed by government legal counsel Sebastian on behalf of the deceased families.

Recently the bodies of five persons were recovered in a mass grave in Mrigre village in West Garo hills district. The victims were allegedly tortured and lynched to death by the villagers on suspicion that they practice witchcraft.

It is informed that the family of late David is not satisfied with the word used by the government counsel “to find the real culprits” as he alleged that the family knows that Jepson T Sangma of Mrigre village was behind the murder.

Jepson T Sangma is one among those arrested by the police in the multiple murder case.

CSWO leader Jenny Sangma , who accompanied Prijinni during a press conference on Friday,  told reporters that David neither practiced witchcraft – for which the killers killed him and others-  nor a militant.

Prijinni, who has four children,  also told reporters on Friday, “We will file a fresh petition in the case. My husband is neither involved in witchcraft nor in militancy.”

According to the CSWO leader Jenny Sangma the petition filed by the government legal counsel had stated that the family approached the West Garo hills deputy commission for a magisterial inquiry to unearth the “real culprits”.

Sangma said, “The family is not satisfied with the word used in the petition to find the real culprits,” even as she said that the family knows that Jepson T Sangma was behind the murder.

Jenny alleged, according to the family, Jepson had also admitted in a village meeting held on January 23 that he along with others have killed five members of the family as they were involved in witchcraft and also in militancy.

Sangma was of the opinion that the words used to find out the ‘real culprits’ is suspected to be a ploy to help the accused especially Jepson, who allegedly has interest in the land of David’s family as he is the cousin.  She also felt that linking with militants is also another ploy  done with ulterior interest.”

“David has no link with any militant group and the legal counsel instead of trying to help the aggrieved family tries to help the case of the accused by mentioning in the letter to the DC that the magistrate inquiry is for finding the real culprits when the real culprit Jepson has been arrested,” Sangma asserted.

Sangma also informed that family members of late David will file  fresh petition to demand not to grant bail to such murderers and that the real culprit has already been arrested and he shall lead to others who helped him in the heinous crime. – By Our Reporter
