His collections at NEIFW represent his ethnicity and ethnic identity, a feature that is predominant in all of his designs.

Lynrah said, “It is a collection where east meets west. I have tried to bridge the traditional and the modern gap, thus creating a hybrid that fits for all in unison. It’s like taking your tradition and embellishing it to give it a modern identity. I want my designs to be worn by everyone, and that everyone should be able to relate to it.”

About his participation in North East India Fashion Week, Rupert says, “NEIFW gives us designers a platform to foray into the competitive field of fashion design by showcasing our creativity and talent. Having said that, it is not just the designers, but also the weavers, artisans, entrepreneurs and buyers a chance to gather under one roof and find potential buyers and business opportunities.”

The Fashion Week, conceptualized by acclaimed fashion designer Yana Ngoba, witnessed the participation of over 20 young designers and weavers from the region who believed in showcasing their traditional fabric and patterns and who have successfully carved a niche for themselves in the fashion industry.

The designers who showcased their collection over the three day gala fashion event were Arita Kashyap and Rohila Engtipi from Assam; Nana Gona, Milli Indira Dangngo, Techi Yapar and Minu Mara, jewellery designer Renu Logum from Arunachal Pradesh; Lalthabiki Chawngthu from Mizoram; Rupert W.
