Friendly between Meghalaya and Assam police

Shillong, Oct 18: Meghalaya police football squad outplayed its opponent Assam police as it thrashed the latter 4-1 in a friendly match played in the JN sports complex Thursday to commemorate the 150 years of the Meghalaya police.

The initial part of the game was without much excitement as both the team were sizing up each other, but as soon as the host team scored the first goal in the twentieth minute through Marshal Kurkalang its opponent Assam police shot an equalizer through Sarbananda Sonawal settting the match  into an interesting phase in the first half.

However in the second half the MLP players showed its mettle with the ball as its players launched a sustain attack at the opposition resulting in another goal being scored by midfielder Niwan O Gatphoh in the 54th minute. The second goal followed by the third by Lammi Passah in the 67th minute and then in the 73rd minute, Gatphoh, a former Shillong Lajong player sealed the fate of the Assam Police team by finding the net through a brilliant right footer.

Assam Police will now host their Meghalaya counterparts on October 27 at the JN Stadium, Guwahati at 2:30 pm.- By Our Reporter
