SHILLONG, SEPT 21: With a mission to enhance the students’ learning experience at all the government owned Secondary & Higher Secondary Schools in the state by providing them with Digital Class Rooms, the Tata ClassEdge – a division of Tata Industries Limited, Mumbai- has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Meghalaya Information Technology Society (MITS) in Mumbai on September 10.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Tata ClassEdge has agreed to provide its learning content named TATA ClassEdgeTM which includes images, visuals, animations, simulations, audio, etc., free of cost to MITS. The content will be installed in the Digital Class Rooms to aid teachers and enhance the learning experience of their students. Tata ClassEdge will also provide training to teachers on the use of their interactive content. It will also help the state to monitor the usage of these Digital Classrooms by means of special software which will generate dashboards & reports.

Prior to signing of the MoU, MITS was in touch with content providers including Tata ClassEdge  for sourcing this content.

The content is proposed to be installed in the 54 Govt. Secondary & Higher Secondary Schools within the academic session 2016-17.

Three Digital Class Rooms each at 24 government owned Secondary & Higher Secondary Schools in the state are being installed through a scheme sponsored by NEC.  This project is being implemented by MITS, a society under the IT&C department. MITS also plans to install Digital Class Rooms in the remaining 30 Government owned Secondary & Higher Secondary institutions in the state.

To maximize the learning experience in the Digital Class Rooms of the above 54 Govt. Schools, MITS plans to provide them with high quality interactive educational electronic content.  This will greatly benefit the students in these schools who are mostly from underprivileged background. It will also tremendously help the teachers of these schools as the interactive content will make it easier for them to explain to the students especially in subjects like science, mathematics, geography etc.

Meghalaya is only the second state in the country (after Jammu & Kashmir) that is receiving the TATA ClassEdgeTM content for government run schools. –By Our Reporter
