NDA cut NE fund:Cong

SHILLONG, JULY 14: AICC general secretary-in charge Meghalaya- V Narayanasamy accused the NDA government at the centre of allegedly trying to ‘arm-twist’ the Congress ruled states in the northeastern region by cutting down on central funds.

Alleging the failure of the DoNER Ministry to provide funds to the NE states, he said, “The centrally sponsored schemes from the DoNER Ministry and also in the budget, funds which have been flowing to NE during the UPA regime has been drastically cut.”

According to him, some of tribal welfare schemes which the centre used to grant 90 per cent have now been slashed down to 50 per cent by the present NDA led government.

“Therefore, whatever promises that have been made by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the people of NE states have been sidelined,” the AICC top functionary said.Re

Because of that, he stated, “Various welfare schemes initiated by our Congress ruled states have been not fully completed and some of them even the National Highway programme have not taken off.”

Meanwhile, the AICC general secretary further alleged that the central ministers who frequent visited the NE state have no powers to take decision.

“The central ministers who are coming here have no powers to take decisions but they  only announce there is sufficient funds, but money is not flowing to the various departments of the NE states,” he said.

Narayanasamy also added that the reason is the central ministers have no powers because power is totally in Prime Minister hand. According to him the  ministers’ assurances remains fulfilled.- By Our Reporter
