SHILLONG, SEPT 18 : The Ri- Bhoi police on Tuesday seized contraband drugs and arrested three persons including the driver of the vehicle which was used for smuggling the banned drugs. The arrest was madeon Tuesday midnight.
Ri Bhoi SP CVS Reddy said that police seized around eleven hundred bottles of Phensedyl and Spasmoproxy 1 tablets from a vehicle along the national highway. He said the seizure was made at Tuesday midnight and police were able to seize pehsedyl besides one hundred forty strips of Spasmoproxy 1 tablet from Tata Spacio at Byrnihat in Ri Bhoi district.
Reddy said that the banned contraband items were being smuggled from Kolkata to Tripura and police is suspecting that the items were meant to be smuggled further to Bangladesh. The driver and his two accomplices were immediately arrested.
The three arrested have been forwarded to court and police is seeking their police custody. –By Our Reporter
