Poll officials registered

SHILLONG, JAN 24: The first lot of poll bound state and central government officials numbering around 3000 have registered themselves for election duty at the U Soso Tham auditorium Thursday for the four days training to commence from January 28 till January 31 at the St. Anthony’s college.

The registration for the training programmes has been initiated by the state election department.

East Khasi hills deputy commissioner cum district election officer Sanjay Goyal said, “These election bound officials includes presiding officers and polling personnel who will be deputed in the 683 polling stations in the district.”

The training will be conducted in about  20 halls of the college.

The training will have theory classes on the procedures, rules and regulations for conducting of elections besides practical classes on the technical know-how of operating the Electoral Voters’ Machines (EVMs).

Goyal informed that second phase of the training will be from February 5 while the third phase will be from February 11.- By Our Reporter
