Randomization of EVMs/VVPATs

General Observer during the 2nd Level RandomizationSHILLONG, FEB 14: The Second level randomization of EVMs/VVPATs and preparation of EVMs/VVPATs was held today the 14th February 2018 in the Election Computer Cell, Mairang in the presence of the General Observer Manjit Singh Narang, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Election) HS Diengdoh and the Political Parties. The General Observer informed the representatives that randomization is done to maintain transparency and separates the EVMs to be used for Training and for Election.

The General Observer Manjit Singh Narang, IAS, Expenditure observer Shri Sashank Dwivedi, IRS, Police observer Sabyasachi Raman Mishra, IPS of 30 – Mairang (ST) & 31- Mawthadraishan Assembly Constituencies conducted joint inspection on the 14th February 2018 to assess the availability of assured minimum basic facilities in designated polling stations. Random inspection of polling stations is done to ensure preparedness on the polling day. The polling stations visited are 20 Mairangbah PS, 22 Pyndengumiong Dong Langstiehrim PS, 28 Mairang Mission PS, 30 Mairang Mission West PS, 31 Mawlong PS, 33 PyndengNongbri PS and 35 Manai PS.

Earlier in the month, the General Observer held a meeting with the contesting candidates of 30 – Mairang (ST) & 31- Mawthadraishan Assembly Constituencies at the Sub – Divisional Office (C) Conference Hall, Mairang Sub – Division on the 12th February 2018 in the presence of Shri HS Diengdoh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Returning Officer), Assistant Returning Officer among others.

During the meeting the General Observer, Manjit Singh Narang, emphasized on the role of every political party for better and peaceful conduct of election, he also requested all political parties to adhere strictly to the model code of conduct and to completely restraint from money and muscle power. Narang read out the DOs & DON’Ts issued by the Election Commission of India and explained briefly on the execution of the Model Code of Conduct. The copy of instructions was circulated to all contesting candidates for their kind information and necessary action.

Thereafter, Declaration by contesting candidate/Election Agent/Proposer were also taken from all Political Parties who expressed their satisfaction on all details filled up in their Nomination prescribed forms.The General Observer invited suggestions from political parties if any, but the members expressed satisfaction on the briefing.
