SHILLONG, FEB 26: The victim of the alleged gang rape incident of 2011 died tragically when she got engulfed in fire while cooking in her kitchen at home on Monday.The police, quoting her family members, said the girl died after she caught fire while cooking. “The girl died in an accidental fire incident in her residence,” said East Khasi Hills district police super M Kharkhrang.
Kharkhrang said the police were investigating into the matter and were awaiting the postmortem report.
Notably , S. N. Roy, the main person allegedly involved in the gang rape incident, had surrendered before a local court. Four others, including Bobby Jyrwa Nongsiej, Johny Kshiar, Brando Nongrum and Angel Dulian (classmate of the victim), have also been arrested. -By our Reporter
