SHILLONG, NOV 27:  Students from St Anthony’s College walked away with top prizes during the 2nd BBS College invitational inter-college debate 2016 on Saturday. The motion “Demonetisation will root out corruption in India” generated quite a heat among the participants as they argued for and against the motion.

The topic, which was timely, caught the audience and the judges’ interest as they keenly listened to the argument as speaker spoke for and against the motion.

However, Ngayaipam A Shimray and Ridwick Bhuyan, both from St Anthony’s College, walked away with the two top prizes while Horching Rampa, from Women’s College, walked away with the best speaker as she was for the motion.

Ritwick Bhuyan walked away with best speaker as he spoke against the motion and Kamesh Gareri got the most humourous speaker’s award.

Meghalaya commissioner & secretary EP Kharbih graced the occasion as the chief guest while ICare president Toki Blah presided over the debate. The debate was judge by Prof D Choubey, head of department of Hindi in NEHU, Hari Prasad, deputy auditor general audit office, Madhu Sudan Singh Rawat, chief account officer in MeECEL.
