SIP held to enlighten villagers on government schemes

Shillong, Sept 28: A one-day special interactive programme (SIP) on the theme “Sustainable Development and Balance Nature” was organized by the office of the Assistant Director of Information & Public Relations, East Khasi Hills at Synia Sya village under Mawkynrew C & RD Block Friday.

The SIP was held to create awareness on the various activities of the government and to impart greater participation in the implementation of various developmental schemes and also to provide a platform for the villagers to interact with officers of various departments,

KB Lakiang, BDO Mawkynrew Block was the chief guest. The resource persons during the programme include P. Marbaniang, retired deputy director of Information and Public Relations, W Syiemlieh, Agriculture Development Officer, BP Marwein, Assistant Soil and Water Conservation Officer, EM Lyngdoh, Programme Manager of Fishery, T. Puwein, Range Forest Officer, Social Forestry and A. Lyngdoh, Gram Sevika, Mawkynrew C&RD Block.

The programme was chaired by B. Kharsamai, Assistant Director of Information and Public Relations and attended by villagers of Synia Sya, Tanglei, Umsning and Pingwait villages including Polin Myrthong, Sordar Synia Sya.

Speaking on the SIP, Lakiang enlightened the different activities and schemes implemented by the block development office. He urged upon the villagers, being the beneficiaries and stakeholders of most of the schemes and programmes of the government, to actively participate and see that such schemes are implemented in such a way that they serve the purpose for which they are intended.

Lakiang call upon the villagers to make full use of this programme and to spread the knowledge gained from this programme to the others people who could not attend for the benefit of all.- Courtesy MIPR
