SHILLONG, DEC 12: Fifty years old Porbinson Ch Marak was arrested by the Tura police on Tuesday for raping two of his minor step daughters. A resident of Dongdegre village, in the Gambegre block about 25 kms from Tura, he was arrested after he was brought to the Tura police station by the Maharis and the mother of the two minor girls.
It is learnt that Marak had first rape the eldest daughter when was only fifteen years two years ago and continued to sexually abused her over the years. The irony is that he continued to rape the eldest daughter even after his wife ( the mother of the two daughters came to know about the heinous crime of her husband.
However when Marak raped his younger step daughter on November 27 after taking her to a nearby jungle, the crime became public as the victim who was only fourteen years ran away from home
When the villagers came to know about the crime Marak had committed they were enraged and a meeting between the Maharis and the victims’ mother took place. It was then decided to lodge a complaint with the police and accordingly an FIR was filed with the Tura police station on December 3.
However the accused continued to stay in the house even after the FIR was filed and the Maharis and the victims’ mother themselves brought the accused to Tura police station and handed him over to the police. – By Our Reporter
