Thief vanish from hospital

SHILLONG, NOV 24: Thirty years old Khie Phawa got himself admitted in the Shillong Civil hospital with burn injuries claiming that he got the injuries in a petrol bomb attack at Iew Mawlong (Iewduh) on Saturday at around 10 pm. However when the police reached the hospital to find out details about the petrol bomb attack, Phawa had by then fled from the hospital as there was no such incident.

The Shillong Civil hospital authority had informed the police immediately when Phawa came on Sunday to get himself admitted in the hospital for treatment from what he said was the burn injury received during the alleged “petrol bomb attack.” However, police said it was a false report as there was no petrol bomb incident on Saturday at Iew Mawlong.

East Khasi hills SP M Kharkhrang informed that Phawa, who is from Madanrting, had been arrested many times earlier for cases relating to robberies. He said, “Maybe he felt that he would get compensation if he claims that he got the burn injuries from a petrol bomb attack, but there was no arson case on Saturday.- By Our Reporter
