Truck driver dies in collision

SHILLONG, MAY 14: A truck driver of Assam based truck died on the spot after it met a head-on collision with another truck which was travelling in the opposite direction near the Umroi airport junction at Madan Umroi in Ri Bhoi district on Wednesday.

The two truck (ASOIBC – 9127 & MLO4 – 9611) travelling in the opposite direction were involved in a head on collision and due to the impact of the collision, the driver of the truck with the Assam registration died on the spot and the vehicle overturned after it skidded off the road.

The 108 Emergency Service Ambulance base in Bhoirymbong helped in shifting the two helpers Banker Dkhar (23years/male) and Shimti Rymbai (23years/male) to Bhoirymbong CHC and then to Shillong Civil Hospital.

In another incident a truck loaded with timber roll-over after it skidded at Umsaw near Mawlangdep village under Nongstoin block, West Khasi Hills on May 12. The 108 Emergency Service Ambulance base in Nongstoin helped in shifting Terbanjop Nongphut (26years/male) and Darius Thongni (36years/male) to Nongstoin Civil Hospital.
