Shillong,January 29: Five Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants were arrested by the West Khasi hills district police on Wednesday forenoon. The militants were nabbed at around 11. 45 am from Dorangre village of West Khasi hills after an operation launched jointly by the SWAT,CRPF, BSF and state police.

The five GNLA militants have been identified as Lasting G.Monim (22) of Rongjeng, East Garo hills , Arnesh G.Momin (20) of Chokpot South Garo hills , Bosco Momin (27) of Dorangre, West Khasi hills who is  a driver of the vehicle they were travelling, Fedrick Rongrin (22) of Dorangre and Jaro S.Sangma (25) of Nengchigre, West Khasi hills district.

West Khasi hills SP S Nongtnger said the five GNLA militants were intercepted while they were travelling in a bolero camper bearing registration no ML-06 6451.

Nongtnger also informed that the police have seized 2 pistols, 2 Magazine, 7 live ammos, 3 mobile sets with sims, 21 dry cell and the bolero camper that was used for travelling.

The security forces teams are still conducting operation in the area in order to nab members of the others outfits who serve demand notes. – By Our Reporter
