GRAS launched

SHILLONG, AUG 31: The State Finance Department today launched the “Government Receipt Accounting System (GRAS)” for on-line receipt of all types of government fees, revenue and payments.

Citizens and other agencies can pay online through various payment channels like Internet Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, IMPS etc., including payment across bank counters of State Bank of India branches.

Finance secretary Sanjay Goyal said that the system would be commonly known as Meghalaya e-Payment which would be accessible on the website https://megepayment.gov.in.

“The system operates on a 24×7 mode and citizen can make the payment any time of the day. Once the payment is done, instant online receipt for payment made and instant online banks transaction number will be made available to the citizen,” he said.

He said that one can pay personal taxes as well as other taxes/ fees, fines, penalties etc or any other payment on behalf of the firm, company and others.

According to him, the Electronic Payment or e-Payment is another mode of payment of Taxes, fees, penalties etc to the government, in addition to the conventional methods offered by the Government of Meghalaya.

The portal has started with a few departments and it is expected to on-board all the departments in next one month time, he said.
