Kidnapped girl rescued

SHILLONG, APR 24: Police rescued a seventeen year old girl and arrested Wanboklang Kharbudnah for kidnapping her.Kharbudnah alias Michael also known as Baduh (25) abducted the girl from jeep stand, police said. Acting on complaint, police swung into action and rescued the girl from a house at Nongumiong.

Meanwhile the nineteen people who had been arrested on Tuesday for burning down the house of the businessman have been remanded to five days police custody.East Khasi hills district Superintendent of Police M Kharkhrang told this reporter that interrogation of the all accused is going on and based on their statements more arrest are likely to be made against.The incident has drawn criticism from different quarters. – By Our Reporter
