Miller remanded to ten days police custody

Shillong, Oct 9: Rev SK Miller- who has been accused of rape and molestation of children- has been remanded to ten days police custody by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court Tuesday. The police had demanded fourteen days police custody to interrogate the accused, but the court granted ten days instead.

Talking to reporters, government counsel IC Jha said, “The police had asked for14-days police remand to interrogate him but the court granted ten days police remand.”Jha informed that Miller will be again produced before the court on October 18

Miller, accused of crime against minors, was on Monday escorted by the police from NEIGRIHMS hospital to the Sadar Police station and was produced before the court on Tuesday.

His interrogation was delayed following his hospitalisation on the day he was arrested.

He was first admitted to the Shillong Civil Hospital on September 28 and was later shifted to NEIGRIHMS.

The 65-year-old priest had reportedly complained of cardiac problems which were found untrue by doctors monitoring his health condition. “After observation and investigation, a medical report was submitted to the Medical Superintendent (MS) of NEIGRIHMS two days ago. In the report it was mentioned that no apparent cardiac problem was found,” sources stated.

The doctors however, stated that Miller is a diabetic.

Miller was recently arrested on various charges including rape, molestation, exploitation and sexual abuse against minors in the New Life Home run by him. He also runs the Beth Memorial School.

The Civil Society Women Organisation (CSWO) had filed an FIR against Miller after a relative of a girl who was staying in the New Life Home in Nongrimmaw informed them about an alleged raped of the girl.
